A Letter to People Wearing Face Masks

Dear Stranger,

I don't know if you know this, but the purpose of your mask is to protect others.  They offer little to no personal protection.  Especially if they are pulled down to talk, if you are not wearing safety goggles, and/or you are not washing your hands prior to touching your face or eating.  Thank you for your sacrifice.

If you are wearing one of those disposable surgical type masks, please change them every 20 to 30 minutes.  They become clogged with toxins very quickly when in a non-sterile environment.  I don't want you to get sick while protecting others.

If you are wearing a cloth mask, please wash and dry them every day.  They grow mold and bacteria very quickly because of the dampness caused by breathing into them.  Again, please don't make yourself sick trying to protect others.

The last thing I'd like to say is: please don't glare at or make snide comments to people not wearing masks.  With millions of people suffering from non-obvious medical conditions, you might be causing a lot of fear and anxiety for someone you are trying to protect.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Much love,

Mother Tory
